Teaching Experience

Along with performing, Ms. Blackwell is currently a member of the voice faculty at Manhattan School of Music, NYU Steinhardt and Barnard College/Columbia University. Previously, she was a member of the voice faculty at The Peabody Conservatory of Music at The Johns Hopkins University. 

In addition, she maintains a private voice studio in New York City. 

Philosophy

"As a voice instructor, my goal is to help and guide you to discover the ease of singing by concentrating on good breath support, vowel and consonant placement and the correct opening of your mouth which will enable the singer to find the core of his or her sound. Once the student is able to establish a good vocal technique, he or she is then able to concentrate on the drama of the song and what he or she wants to convey to the audience by communicating the text and the music of the composer."
